Welcome to the New NCSU Libraries’ Website

For the last year or so you’ve probably seen us out on the Brickyard, or clustered with students and faculty around a table in front of the D. H. Hill circulation desk, or out interviewing folks in their offices and dorm rooms. At the same time, we’ve also been systematically reviewing the best ideas from library and commercial websites across the globe.

Today, you see the result–a new website designed to make it easier for you to do your work with the Libraries.

Streamlined to get you quickly to the most-used info

The new website has been greatly streamlined to make it much quicker to get to the information and tools that our user metrics and our talks with you told us were the most important for your course work and research.

Immediate access to “search” and other key tools

The drop-down menus in the gray bar at the top of the page, for instance, give you easy, tiered access to the most-used information about the Libraries and its services.

The search box at the top left of the page provides an immediate, direct way to search the Libraries’ collection and to use our pioneering search engine, whether you want to explore our and other libraries’ collections, find articles from a wide variety of journals, or see information from our website. Just below it, we’ve highlighted the Libraries’ most popular tools and user destinations.
New home page
The revolving image on the top right of the page and the information “below the fold” in the site’s bottom half allow you to see what new services, events, and information are available from the NCSU Libraries.

Flexibility for the future

In the background, we’ve also recast the site into a content management system that makes it much easier for us to keep the site constantly updated and to quickly adopt new web tools and technologies as they develop.

It also means we can respond quickly to your ideas about how to make the site work even better for you. Please give us your thoughts and suggestions through the “feedback” button on the far right of the home page.
