Arthur Cogswell Papers

Today’s blog post was contributed by Aaron.  I’m happy to report that we’ve finished another collection!

I recently got to take a break from rolling Richard Bell landscape drawings to process a small architecture collection. The Arthur Cogswell Papers contain photographs, marketing materials, office files, and digital files, but no drawings!

Like Bell, Cogswell had a long career, which began in the 1960s. His firm was based in Chapel Hill, and many of his modernist designs can be seen throughout the Triangle area. During his career Cogswell won many awards for his designs, including being made a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects. To learn more about Arthur Cogswell and to view photos of some of his projects, see his entry on the Triangle Modernist Houses website.

Also, take a look at our finding aid for his collection and come in and take a look at the materials in person sometime.
