Dr. Michael A. Boles is Associate Professor Emeritus of mechanical engineering @ NC State where he started teaching in 1980. He has also worked at Indiana Institute of Technology, NASA Lewis Research Center, and the E. I. DuPont DeNemours and Company. He has been recognized as an outstanding professor and teacher many times in his career and has received the Society of Automotive Engineers’ Ralph R. Teetor Award. He is the author of many research articles and has co-authored this textbook through eight editions since 1989.
