Webinar description:
A webinar on “NCBI Molecular Biology Resources” presented by Peter S. Cooper, Ph.D., Public Services, National Center for Biotechnology Information. Dr. Cooper will present a brief tutorial covering molecular database searching from NCBI. The session emphasizes database integration as part of the NCBI Discovery system. Dr. Cooper will give an overview of databases, describe types of molecular data, demonstrate OMIM (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/omim), SNP (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/snp), genome information and BLAST (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/blast/) searching using a single gene as an example to navigate across the integrated databases, search tools, and other resources at the NCBI site. Registrants will be able to do hands-on work in the computer classroom in D.H. Hill Library during the webinar. This webinar will be hosted in D.H. Hill Library and is open to NCSU faculty members, researchers and students who study molecular biology topics.
