The NCSU Libraries were recently honored by a resolution from the International Association for Aquatic Animal Medicine (IAAAM) at the 42nd IAAAM Conference May 7-11, 2011 at the Mirage in Las Vegas, Nevada. Full text of the resolution follows:

“Whereas the history and activities of the International Association for Aquatic Animal Medicine have had, and continue to have, important impacts on the development and advancement of aquatic animal health research, and serve as a foundation for the aquatic component of the broader efforts in the realm of Zoological Health,  these impacts are deserving of long-term, state of the art preservation and management so that they are available for study study by current and future generations,

Whereas North Carolina State University’s Libraries, recognized among the top research university libraries in the United States, and as a highly respected leader in digital and progressive library science, in recognition of the importance of Zoological Health as an emerging and critical scientific and clinical discipline have prioritized dedicated resources in their advanced archiving and special collections facilities, making Zoological Health a priority of the university special collections,

be it resolved that

The International Association for Aquatic Animal Medicine recognizes North Carolina State University’s Special Collections in Zoological Health as a repository for materials pertaining to the history of aquatic animal medicine and the IAAAM.”
